Alabama State University Presents

Robotics
The Robotics Component of CAMP-IT will afford students the
opportunity to learn basic robotic principles by operating a robotic arm via
remote and also through a USB interface setup with a PC computer. The Robotic
Arm Edge has an impressive range of motion including an elbow range of 300
degrees and a base rotation of 270 degrees. With its 15" vertical reach and a
12-1/2" horizontal reach, the Robotic Arm Edge is fully capable of mastering
almost any task.
With the help of the ASU undergraduate volunteers, the students will learn how
to configure the Robotic Arm Edge to interface with a PC computer as well as
convert the arm to be controlled by remote.
There is an added bonus for those students who would like to be considered
future programmers. We have software that will allow these young scholars to
program the Robotic Arm Edge to perform a set of well conceived movements that
they create using a fun and engaging interactive system. At a click of a button,
they will see the robot come to life.
Finally, students will compete in a team environment to complete a set of tasks
in a race against the clock. The team that wins will receive a prize.
